There are nearly 22 million college students in the United States. Of these 22 million students, close to 1.1 million are international students. Rice University
Our first university is Rice University which is located in Houston. It is ranked 136th in the world university rankings and 18th in the US college rankings. The university has more than 7,000 students in total. About 2,300 of these students are international students. The total faculty staff consists of a thousand people, so the number of students per staff is 6, which is a gorgeous number. The semester fee of the university is around $26,000. The high level of research activity of the university in Houston is evident from its $ 156 million research fund. The university’s endowment assets are $6.16 billion, making it one of the 20 largest schools in the United States. A considerable number of astronauts and space scientists have graduated from Rice University. Furthermore, graduates of the university became CEOs or founders of Fortune 500 companies, and two alumni won the Nobel prize.
University of Texas at Austin
Our second university is a public university founded in 1883: University of Texas at Austin. It is ranked 47th in the world university rankings. The university has a total of 49,000 students, and has five thousand international students. In addition, about 2,900 faculty staff work at the university. So, the student/faculty ratio is 17. The university’s fee for local students is $11,000, and for foreign students it is around $40,000. The research expenditures of the university reached $780 million in 2022. School alumni, faculty staff, or researchers have received 13 Nobel Prizes and 4 Pulitzer Prizes to date. And as of 2022, school students have won a total of 155 medals at the Olympics.
Southern Methodist University
The next university in our list is Southern Methodist University, established 110 years ago, SMU is a private university. Southern Methodist University ranked 94th in the US college rankings. The university, which hosts 10,000 students, also has 1,200 international students, and the acceptance rate of the university is 53%. It has nearly 1,000 faculty staff. So, there are 10 students per staff which is an impressive number. The annual tuition fee can go up to 58 thousand dollars. The amount of endowment assets owned by the school is $2.0 billion.
Texas A&M University
Our next school is Texas A&M University in College Station, which was founded in 1876. First of all, this university is a public university. It ranks 168th in the world rankings and 79th in the US ranking. The pretty large university has 65,000 students. And, 7,000 of them are international students. There are more than 3,000 faculty staff in the university. The education cost is around $13,000 for local students, and is $40,000 for foreign students. The university’s main campus is 22 square kilometers and is one of the 10 largest campuses in the United States. In addition to its large campus, it has endowment assets of $12.7 billion. This makes the university the second-largest public university in the US. As a plus of this, more than $900 million was spent on research and development in the last year. Thanks to this tradition, the university’s alumni have won nine Nobel prizes.
Trinity University
Trinity University, another private university, is located in San Antonio and was founded in 1869. It is ranked 106th according to the US college rankings. Faculty staff consists of 260 people and three thousand students study at the university. Despite its small size, Trinity University offers 49 major and 61 minor programs and, its endowment assets are worth $1.7 billion.
Texas Christian University
Our last school is Texas Christian University, located in the city of Fort Worth. Founded in 1873, the university is ranked 154th in the US college rankings. Approximately 1,000 academic staff provide education to 12,000 students. The annual tuition fee is at the level of $54,000. The endowment assets of the university are worth $2.1 billion.
Although the prices of universities may seem intimidating, every university provides financial aid to its students. With an effective application, it is not a remote possibility to qualify for a high scholarship and reduce the tuition fees to low levels.
