Founded in 1836, Emory University is a private research university, located in Atlanta, Georgia. Historically it’s the second oldest higher education institution of Georgia. Emory has a strong reputation for having an excellent academic education and system. It is home to nine undergraduate schools. In these schools, the programs cover a wide variety of fields that include business, law, medicine, nursing, public health, and liberal arts, and more. At Emory in total there are 70 undergraduate majors, and over 150 graduate and professional programs. Aside from this variety, class sizes are kept small. This enables the university to give individual attention to the students, and makes offering opportunities for undergraduate research more accessible. Emory University offers academic freedom to its students. This means students here can design their own curriculum, and choose more than one field, even if they are not in line with each other. While Emory encourages its students to pursue their own interests so that they can understand and express themselves better, it finds an opportunity to test new fields. And at the end of the day, all of these contribute to the university’s commitment to academic excellence.

Emory offers an amazing student life both on campus and around Atlanta. The city where it is located is a vibrant and diverse one with lots of museum, art galleries, performance venues, as well as a thriving business community. These provide students with access to quite a lot of number of cultural, social, and professional opportunities that allowing students to gain valuable real-world experience and maintain connections that they can benefit after graduation. As for the life within this diverse and inclusive university, students can see the reflection of Emory’s commitment of becoming a global institution. When Emory University’s then president Atticus Greene gave a speech against slavery, he got the attention of a New Yorker banker. Thanks to this speech, the university got a grant that made it possible for Emory to open new schools and rebuilt the ones that were destroyed during the Civil War. And this, brings us to the third point: research opportunities and grants.
